‘Everyone wins’ with Smart Cities Project Activator, a new Smart Cities Council and Tr3Dent collaboration that accelerates project scoping and financing.
Washington, DC June 28th, 2018 — At the Enterprise Ireland IoT & Smart Cities Forum this week the Smart Cities Council and Tr3Dent announced their agreement to launch Smart Cities Project Activator, a powerful combination of the Smart Cities Council’s widely adopted and successful Readiness Program (RP) and a customized version of Tr3Dent’s Transformation Accelerator Platform. The effort is designed to help cities bring their smart cities projects to life more quickly, accelerating the benefits to their communities with innovative financing. Smart Cities Project Activator allows cities, solution providers and investors to collaborate in a shared project-modeling environment. Unique dashboards will allow all stakeholders to quickly see the status of projects and provide consistent views for quick assessment and review. Cities can cut the time it takes to reach stakeholder agreement by up to 30 percent while more efficiently and accurately scoping their projects to attract the right solution providers and secure innovative financing.
The Smart Cities Project Activator, which will become part of the Smart Cities Council’s proven Readiness Program later this year, will help cities overcome the hurdle of documenting their requirements and prioritizing their needs. There is great need as the global market for smart cities solutions is growing 20 percent annually and is forecast to reach USD 2.57 trillion by 2025.
The Smart Cities Council Readiness Program has been widely adopted by cities worldwide and includes a collection of city resources, the opportunity to participate in challenges, local readiness workshops, a defined readiness roadmap, project scoping processes, assistance with financing and access to skilled readiness ambassadors. Nearly a third of U.S. cities with populations of 100,000 or more have participated in the Smart Cities Council Readiness Challenges. In the past three years, the Council conducted more than 60 readiness workshops in metro areas that reached a total of more than 200 million residents.

Tr3Dent’s Transformation Accelerator will be customized to provide a single platform to contain all the content associated with the Smart City Council’s Readiness Program. It will provide access to all stakeholders and facilitate collaboration by providing a consistent guided approach that leverages industry standards, documented best practices and pre-defined templates for each step in the process.

The annual challenge for North American cities will be launched this fall (2018); challenges for cities in Europe, Africa and Latin America are in the planning stage.
